Microsoft will be ending support for the Windows 10, 1511 and 1607 (anniversary) builds in March 2018.
This doesn't mean the windows 10 you currently use will suddenly stop working next March, essentially what this means is that Microsoft will no longer release patches for these versions of Windows 10 past this date (For a refresher on Patches and why Patching is important please click here and scroll down to item 4).
To ensure all of our clients are updated to the latest Windows version, our technicians will be notifying any at-risk clients to organise a time to update the windows system to either one of the two new Windows 10 versions. These are either;
- Windows 10 - Creators version
- Windows 10 - Fall Creators version
Both of these builds are virtually the same and the reason that Windows is offering two different updates is part of the overall Microsoft strategy for offering two software update options until 2020 (when they will revise their software update strategy).
One of our IT technicians will be in touch over the next few months to organise a day and time to complete this update when it is not an inconvenience. This is a part of Emerging IT's standard patching service and will not require any additional fees to complete.
If you have any questions or requests regarding this update, please feel free to contact your Account Manager.
