What is an Integrated Communications Network (ICN)

An Integrated Communications Network (ICN) streamlines all of your building infrastructure into one easy to manage environment.

When a business makes an investment in a building they tend to install and manage disparate infrastructure in order to run their HVAC, Lighting, Fire, Lift and Security systems. These systems significantly increase the upfront and ongoing costs of implementing and managing the environment.

Through Emerging IT's Integrated Communications Network, we bring all of these systems and more into one easy to manage ecosystem. Our ICN projects make your environment more secure and cost-effective.

With the emergence of IoT and the constant need for connectivity and analytics, our solutions assist in the design, development, security and management of Smart Services for your Buildings, Schools, Retail Centres and Precincts.

Why choose an ICN for your business

Technology is driving the next wave of user experience within Australian businesses. As we look to come out of a pandemic and find a happy medium between state-of-the-art experiences and employee/guest safety, technology and how we use it will be critical to our success.

Integrated Communications Networks (ICN) create a foundation in your building enabling you to create a Smart Building. ICN provides your building with a gateway to all the smart technology and cost-saving benefits. This includes: keyless door locks high touchpoint areas, HVAC systems, heat maps and contactless check-in to the building.

Smart technology is limitless and these are just a few examples of how technology can solve building problems, slash building costs and amplifies the user experience.

Our ICN Projects

We are proud of our work because we know it makes a difference to our customers. Below are just a few of the projects we have completed.

Federal Government Building – 2017

A new 8 level commercial office building consisting of 35,500m2 net lettable area, occupied by a Federal Government Department.

The solution was built upon a common secure network platform over which all building services communicate.
The objective was to provide commonality between data transfer of the building services systems in addition to reducing the cabled infrastructure and active hardware across the site.

The solution was a combination of passive structured cabling and active network hardware. The result was a secure, stable, failsafe and resilient infrastructure for the day-to-day operation of the building.

  • 24 Layer 2 Stackable Edge Switches
  • 2 Core Switches
  • 8 Servers each hosting a building service in addition to network management servers
  • 25 Racks complete with PDU’s and UPS’s

Federal Government Building – 2019

A new 5 level, A-grade commercial office building consisting of 35,000m2 net lettable space, occupied by a Federal Government Department.

  • 12 Layer 2 Stackable Edge Switches
  • 2 Core Switches
  • 11 Servers each hosting a building service in addition to network management servers

Next Hotel Melbourne - 2021

Emerging IT designed, supplied and implemented the IT environment for the new development of The Next Hotel.

The solution included a backbone network for 24 floors. The building also provided access to staff and customers with over 500 Aruba Wireless access points providing high-quality Wi-Fi access across the entire hotel, including hotel rooms and common areas.

Overall Building Features

  • 24 floors
  • 255 rooms
  • Office Space
  • Restaurants & Bars
  • Retail Options

Hotel - 2021

A new 124-room hotel and office complex. The solution was primarily built upon a desire to consolidate and simplify. The requirement was to significantly reduce the cabled infrastructure and active hardware across the site.

The original design included up to 6 x CAT6 cables being run to every hotel room. By redesigning the network, we were able to reduce this to a single cable by leveraging a wireless access point in each room as a consolidation point where all connected devices in the room could connect to.

The solution was a combination of passive structured cabling and active network hardware. The result was a secure, stable, fail-safe and resilient infrastructure for the day-to-day operation of the building.

  • 15 edge switches Stackable Edge Switches
  • 3 Core Switches
  • 158 Wireless Access Points
  • 2 Hyperconverged Servers hosting 18 virtual machines each hosting a building service in addition to network management servers
  • 15 Racks complete with PDU’s and UPS’s
